The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Voice Displeasure About Size Changes
Members of the platform have expressed outrage following a change that caused listings displaying inaccurate size information.
This online marketplace has altered its sizing categories for female and kids' apparel but did not contact every member regarding the update.
Online Platforms Backlash
Countless users and merchants are posting online saying Vinted listings now show a different size category than originally posted because of the remapping.
The platform stated the revised method more closely matches comparable marketplaces.
They have suggested members to examine their items and adjust the sizing manually where appropriate, causing user dissatisfaction.
Sizing System Modifications
Earlier, the sizing featured a single numeric size and a letter, such as S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features a letter with a size spectrum for example S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the measurements have been reclassified - for example a size L was formerly size 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
Shopper Experiences
Frankie Bridger, who produces content about larger sizing, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
Stephanie Gallen, located in Scotland, said garments she listed featuring size 14 markings were appearing on the platform as measurements 20-22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they will likely be quite upset," she stated.
Required Changes
A different user, from Derby, stated she felt frustrated by the change as she had to manually change the sizes on "every single listing".
"This situation is especially annoying, as I'm chronically ill and platform income has been essential for me since losing part of my income," she said.
Marketplace Information
The platform boasts over 100 million users, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has proved a popular alternative compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance that an unexpected update on the platform has faced criticism: previously, the platform withdrew an update to its shipping options due to shopper criticism.
